Dance

Dance

Vibrant lily pads float on the water in this original acrylic painting. Here we don’t see so much IN the water as what is happening ON the water. And what is fun here is the play of the shadow of the reeds, which are out of frame, on the water and the floating leaves. It’s difficult to ascertain if these lily pads belong to the same mother plant or not. They look more like they’re independent and dancing with each other. This painting was based on a photograph I took from my kayak and I also was fascinated with how the reflection of one lily pad created the image of a butterfly.
