Night Shift

Night Shift

“Night Shift” is a night time version of “Dance.” It speaks about the mysterious world below the water’s surface at night. For this painting I used a palette of colour devised by Goethe. He was interested in colour psychology and he named various colour combinations as he saw them representing different states of mind. I chose to limit myself to shades of blue, purple and green which he called a melancholy palette. I found that it enhanced the sense of mystery we feel when we stare into the water and try to imagine what lays below.
